Both as a historian and now a policy geek, I’ve focused on the various ways regulators have tried their damnedest to screw up mass media in America, from President John F. Kennedy’s weaponization of the Fairness Doctrine to various (terrible) proposals to regulate the internet. It’s naive, it’s bad, and yet they keep trying to do it anyways.
